Support Tool - Engaging a mental health nurse
Ballarat & District Division of General Practice has engaged Australian Mental Health Services to support General Practitioners by providing easy access to trained mental health nurses to work with selected patients who have mental health care needs.
The initiative includes:
- Simplifying mental health care for General Practitioners
- Support to General Practitioners in the development of quality Mental Health Treatment Plans with the ongoing treatment and care plan review
- Facilitation of easy access to psychologists and allied health professionals
- Provision of interim and ongoing treatments at the direction of General Practitioners
- Alleviating GP workloads with specialized mental health nursing resources
